Great welcome Heather and a cup of tea! ‘Burnbrae’ – a home from home. Lovely. Great location and base for local area, Loch Ness, Skye, Fort Augustus, Glen Affric, Inverness, John o’ Groats, Orkney Islands – wow!! We were well satisfied. Love to come back!!

A lovely cottage in a beautiful & peaceful location. The welcome pack and other extra touches much appreciated. There is so much to see and do in the area. We particularly enjoyed Plodda Falls, Fort Augustus & Nairn beach. Whin Park in Inverness was brilliant for the children (ages 5 & 6)

Our first time in Loch Ness and we’ll definitely be back! Had a lovely time. Cottage had everything we needed in a perfect location. Recommend cruise at Fort Augustus and river walk along Ness Islands in Inverness. The Indian ‘Natural Spice’ in Drumnadrochit is very good. Thanks Heather for your kind hospitality.

I still can’t believe, that when we stumbled upon Burnbrae (online) that we would find such a treasure. We have not made very long distance forays because there is so much to see and do. Springtime! The season of new growth, new colour – stunning! Walk in any of the woodlands to see the bluebells. Recommend drive down to Fort Augustus and then travel up General Wade’s military roads. We came to the Highlands for scenery. We have not been disappointed.

Thank you Heather and David. It’s been sheer joy to be here.

Thank you Heather & David. Burnbrae is a beautiful cottage in a breathtaking area – you don’t know how lucky you are to live here. You could stay here for a month and still not scratch the surface of all there is to do around here. We have had our honeymoon here and would come back 4 ever if we get the chance.

Thanks for your hospitality and welcome pack. The cottage had everything we needed, a real home from home.

Super cottage in a superb location. Ideal for the village and beyond. Weather has been OK and we have been to Skye, Aviemore, Fort William, Dunrobin Castle and many more places.

The food down at ‘Fiddlers’ in the village was worth the trip on its own. Fantastic week!! Many thanks Heather.

By its situation, Burnbrae is a very convenient place for one who wishes to visit the Scottish Highlands. The Loch Ness of course, Inverness and surroundings, the Balck Isle, Glen Affric, the Great Glen and even the Cairngorms are within driving distance for one day trips.

The cottage is cosy and quiet, and most suitable to accommodate a family with two children or teenagers. The hospitality and kindness of the owners leave no edge to criticism. The only thing more to be wished is fair weather and not too much rain, but in this respect things go as heavens will!!

We had a great time when we stayed at Burnbrae in June. The location was great for visiting everywhere we wanted to go. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed including towels and washing up things. We only had to take clothes and food. The welcoming wine and fruit were a real treat with all we needed to make a hot drink when we arrived – and shortbread!

It was great to have a good garden to sit in, with BBQ, and a table and seating for those lazy at home days.

Plenty of parking, wonderful views. What more can I say, we will be back!

Barbara & Geoff Peel, Australia

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Burnbrae. Its location is great for either a slow paced holiday enjoying the attractions of the Loch Ness area, or a faster paced one exploring further afield to places such as Skye, the Black Isle and Rannoch Moor. We did a bit of both!

We’ve had a wonderful time in your very cosy cottage. It was great to arrive and find it spotless, with all the essentials we needed for a lovely stay. The weather – thick, thick snow! – has proved a challenge but your help transporting us up the hill with our luggage was much appreciated . Have thoroughly enjoyed the lovely walks in the area – the info and leaflets in the cottage are a fantastic resource. Thank you.

We have had a great time here at Burnbrae. Felt comfortable and relaxed the moment we walked in. Very comfortable and well equipped little haven in the Highlands. Great base for touring the area with plenty to see and do. We will surely return in the future. Thank you Heather and David for providing us with the opportunity to stay at Burnbrae.

August 2009

Kitt family – Surrey

Have had a wonderful time and the weather was very kind to us most of the time. Been to Skye, on Loch Ness & Urquhart Castle, Fort Augustus, Fort William, Mallaig and Nairn. Dolphin spotting in the Cromarty Firth - saw 30+. White water rafting in Aberfeldy and to ‘Go Ape’ in Aberfolyle, on rope bridges and zip wires high in the tree tops. Fed reindeer in Aviemore and pony trekking in Cougie. Hope to return one day and plan to stay here again. Such a cosy place to unwind at the end of the day. Thank you so very much.

Aline & Genevieve – Basel, Switzerland

We had a great week exploring the area; Urquhart Castle, Loch Ness, Divach Falls, Urquhart Bay woods, Craigmonie, etc. Mostly the weather was charming!! We also liked our trips to Inverness & Fort William. We’re looking forward to come back to the Highlands once again. Until then we will remember them by looking at the lots of pictures we took.

A beautiful cottage with all a family could need to have a very nice holiday. Highlands are wonderful: castles, mountains, woods, water, water and water ... and don’t forget whisky! And people are so nice! Thank you very much to Heather and we hope to come back again.

Enjoyed an excellent Hogmanay in Drumnadrochit. Took in the New Year with the pipes and fireworks! A lovely cosy cottage where we’ve had a relaxing time and a great holiday. Many thanks.

Thanks for the warm welcome to your lovely wee cottage. Brilliant position for using as a base to explore all the Glens and the many places of interest. Feel like we have had a holiday as it’s so peaceful but managed to cram such a lot of things into our week. We’ve travelled all over, including a trip to Skye – timed it right as the sun was shining. Although there has been rain every day we’ve managed to track down the sunny spells. That’s about the only thing you’ve not had any control over! Everything else has been thought about and provided in the cottage to make it a cosy wee “home from home”. Many thanks once again.

A & N Snook – Ipswich

So many welcoming touches – a treat to settle in and relax quickly – easy to feel at ease and comfy. Thank you. We were lucky with the weather – though treated to the experience of ‘rapid change’ from wind/rain/sun and back again! Local walks lovely (make sure you have walked far enough to see the MAIN fall and not just the “introductory” falls, esp. at Plodda. Riding at Cougie with Sasha Mackintosh and ponies a real outdoor treat _ (novices) amazed at what we experienced (and rode through) fording hefty streams! But stayed on and were rewarded with sights of osprey.

Greg, Linda, Jason, Brooke - Brisbane, Australia

Awesome! Great hospitality – the Christmas tree, crackers, mulled wine and food were lovely touches that made us feel very welcome. Glen Nevis – Ben Nevis – made a snowman in the ice/snow, loved Loch Ness cruise and castle trip were great – didn’t see Nessie this trip – will have to come back! Have filled a lot into only 5 days and had a ball! Thanks Heather and David.

7 – 10 December 2006

John and Cath - Bristol

Thanks so much for the warm welcome Heather and for the brilliant advice David. We enjoyed Plodda Falls and Glen Affric – both great short walks. The dam at Glen Cannich was impressive – we spotted a big stag on the way there! Urquhart Castle is a great afternoon out. We enjoyed dinner (wonderful venison!) at the Clansman and real ale at the Benleva Hotel. A breathtaking perfect location.

The Bryne family

We have had a wonderful, relaxing week here at Burnbrae. The cottage has all one needs. The children have felt at home – we were well received by Heather and thank her for the hospitality. Places to see? Glen Affric would be top of the list. Various waterfalls (Plodda) and Abriachan (near A82 towards Inverness has many super walks and an excellent treehouse. Culloden and the bracing coasts around the Moray Firth (Nairn) were super too. Thanks.

We have had a lovely week here – so much to see & do – time ran out. The views, the walks, the boat on the Loch and to end it all horse riding through the woods and even in the Loch. Back to reality on Monday morning. Thanks for it all – including all the essentials.

We had a terrific time. Perfect location for our activities (castles, Culloden, Isle of Skye, hiking Ben Nevis!), and cosy place to come back to each evening.
